How it works
From your textbook to a year of lesson plans
You do about 10 minutes of work. Rumi’s crew reads your book and writes a lesson plan for every lesson in your timetable.
The cost
Rumi is completely free
No subscription, no fee, nothing to pay Rumi, ever. The only cost is the AI that writes your lessons, and you pay that directly to the AI company, using your organisation’s own AI key.
- $0 to RumiThe tool, the crew, the downloads: all free.
- First lessons on usWe pay the AI for reading your first book and its first 3 lessons.
- A few cents a lessonAfter that, paid to your AI provider (Claude, OpenAI, Gemini…), never to us.
What you’ll need
- Your textbook
as a PDF - Your timetable
lessons a week, minutes, school weeks - A sample lesson plan
optional, if your school has a format - An AI key
only when you build the whole book; you pay the AI company, not Rumi
Upload your textbook
1 minuteWhat you do: Choose the textbook your teachers already use, as a PDF (up to 200 MB, in any language; a scanned book is fine). Then create your account with your name, work email and organisation.
What we do: We start reading the book while you sign up.
Check the contents
2 minutesWhat you do: Look over the list of units and sub-units we found, with the page each one starts on. If something is wrong, tap “Something’s not right” to rename, move, add or remove a unit.
What we do: We read the book’s contents page. If we can’t tell something (for example, which numbers are units and which are sub-units), we ask you instead of guessing.
Tell us your timetable
1 minuteWhat you do: Enter how many lessons a week this subject gets, how long each one is, how many weeks are in your school year, and how many are taken by exams and holidays.
What we do: We work out how many lesson plans the year needs and share the book across them.
Choose how challenging lessons should be
30 secondsWhat you do: Pick one: follow the book, more support, mixed ability, or more challenge.
What we do: Every lesson is written at that level. Mixed ability adds tasks for students who are behind and ahead.
Share your lesson plan format (optional)
1 minuteWhat you do: If your school has a lesson plan template or a sample it likes, upload it. No sample? Skip this and we use Rumi’s format.
What we do: We copy the shape of your sample (its sections and boxes), never its topic.
Review your first 3 lessons, free
5 minutesWhat you do: Read the first three lesson plans. If you’d change something, tell us (shorter activities, simpler language, more speaking practice) and we rewrite that lesson. Your first 3 changes are free.
What we do: We write each lesson from your book’s own pages, in your book’s language, with a script the teacher can follow.
Approve, then build the whole book
1 clickWhat you do: When the lessons look right, approve them. To build the rest of the book, add your organisation’s AI key once (from Claude, OpenAI, Gemini, Grok or OpenRouter). Rumi stays free: you only pay that AI company for what it writes, usually a few cents a lesson.
What we do: We write every lesson in the pattern you approved. It can take from a few minutes to a few hours, and you can close the page meanwhile.
Download and share
1 minuteWhat you do: Download each lesson as a PDF, or the whole book as one ZIP, organised by unit, and share it with your teachers.
What we do: If you need a lesson changed later, you can still ask.
